Production Welder
Monday through Friday, 6:00 am-2:30 pm. Some Saturday’s required.
The Taylor & Fenn Company is a ferrous sand casting foundry located in Windsor, CT. The ideal candidate will be constantly working safely by following company rules and wearing the proper safety equipment.
Required Skills:
- Must be able to work safely and independently
- Need to have reliable transportation
- Ability to work overtime as scheduled
- Training in welding or experience in production welding;
- Well-developed knowledge of equipment, parts, systems, tools, and machinery required in production of welded components;
- Understanding of welding and manufacturing shop safety and possible hazards;
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs
- Ability to manipulate by rolling, pushing, or moving castings anywhere from a few lbs to 1000lbs
Responsibilities:
- Working safely by following company rules and wearing the proper safety equipment
- Dismantles metal assemblies or cuts scrap metal, using thermal-cutting equipment such as flame-cutting torch or plasma-arc equipment.
- Examines workpiece for defects and measures workpiece with straightedge or template to ensure conformance with specifications.
- Produces strong penetrated welds that are smooth, non-porous, and consistent.
- Weld vertical, flat, and overhead welds with good penetration and quality appearance.
- Read tape measure and angle finder.
- Operate various shops tools including power and manually operated wrenches.
- Operate plasma cutter and acetylene torches.
- Follows required procedures and maintains/produces a level of output that will minimize production delays.
- Communicates effectively with other workers to direct personal workflow.
- Knowledge of welding processes and equipment
- Perform basic preventative maintenance on welding machine and associated equipment
